December 8, 2014 - My Bestie International DT Challenge #25 Christmas plus Vintage

Hi my friends and welcome to our My Besties International DT Challenge, #25, Christmas plus Vintage.  Again I'm not sure if my card classifies as "vintage", but when I bought these papers a few months ago, I knew I had to use them for this challenge.  Those of you who know me well, know how much I love purples and then to throw in a little aqua/blue with it was just right for me.  :-)

I used my Derwent Inktense pencils to color this beauty with.  Love the InkTense pencils.  If you have never tried them or on the fence about buying more pencils, my suggestion is just take the leap.  I truly don't think you will be sorry.  So easy to use and I love the colors.  My set is the set of 72.

Here is my card for this challenge.

I loved this image the first time I saw her and knew right away she was coming home with me.  :-)  Of course I feel that way about a lot of Sherri's images.  If you love her like I do, you can find her in Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop by clicking HERE

Hope you see why I chose the colors I did.  Everything just went together perfectly in my way of thinking.  LOL

Probably the only think "vintage" on my card was the lace and I wish I could remember where I purchased it, because that was the last piece and I love it.  Gotta find some more.  I would love for you to leave comments on where you get your lovely laces from.  I might just have to visit those shops.

Flowers of course came from Wild Orchard Crafts.  Love love love their flowers.  Got to order some more soon.  Can't believe I am out of a few colors.  Not sure if you can tell by the picture, but I did use stickles on the white fur to make it pop a little.  I love glimmer.  :-)  I believe the snowflake die was a joy Crafts die.

Anyway, just wanted to share with you my creation and thank you for stopping by.  Please leave comments below.  And we would love to have you join us in our monthly challenge.  You can click HERE to see all the lovely cards our DT members have made and also enter our challenge.

Since this will be Team A's last challenge for the year, I want to take time to thank you all so much for stopping by and also for the wonderful comments you make each time.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, your comments are so appreciated.

Merry Christmas to all, Happy New Year, God bless and I'll see you again in 2015.

Many hugs and blessings,
Pat

December 1, 2014 - My Bestie Aussie DT Challenge

Welcome my friends to our new My Bestie Aussie DT Challenge of Anything Goes with a Bestie - Christmas.  Well it is getting that time of year and I absolutely love anything Christmas.  So this challenge was a good one for me.  For the past few challenges I have been playing around with another of my loves and that is the My Bestie 3D Deco sheets.  I am so enjoying working with them and loved this image so I thought okey dokey gonna do another one this challenge and I hope that you all like her.  Kinda makes me smile when I look at her.

The image I am using this time is called Christmas Peppermint 3D Bestie and you can find her in Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop by clicking HERE

I made an easel card which is one of my favorites.  Here is a photo of the card closed.

Here is my easel card opened.

Here is a close up of the image.  There were about 6 layers cut and stacked here.

I had great fun cutting this deco sheet out and designing the card for our Christmas Challenge.  Please take time to go visit our My Bestie Aussie DT Blog and check out the other cards from our great DT.  While you are there, please think about joining us for our new challenge.  Would love to see you there.  You can go to the blog by clicking HERE

Have a great week and stay warm if you can.  I have to tell you it is very nice and warm here in sunny FL.

Would so appreciate your comments, they mean so much to me.

Happy stamping and blessings to all,
Hugs,
Pat

November 10, 2014 - My Besties World DT Challenge - Shabby Chic

Good Monday morning my friends.  Here again with a wonderful new challenge at My Besties World DT.  For this challenge, we had to make a "shabby Chic" card.  Well I had no clue what shabby chic meant, so I chose my image and then set out to design the card.  I was very pleased on the final card, but wasn't sure if it was entirely shabby chic.  So we are calling this shabby chic with a touch of bling.  LOL   Well if you know me personally, you know I love my bling!!!!

Once again I decided to use one of Sherri Baldy's 3D Deco images for my DT card.  I am really enjoying the 3D images and if you haven't tried them, maybe you need to do what I did......bite the bullet and get one and start cutting.  LOL  My suggestion is to use a craft knife.  I found that I get closer cuts, especially in the tight areas, with my knife.

So here is my card and I sure hope you like it.

Here is a closer view which shows a little on how the layers are added.

I just love using blues for Christmas and I love birds (I have two parrots) so this was a perfect image for me.
The neat thing about this image is that it comes in a digi or the 3D Deco sheet like I used here.  You can get the 3D Deco sheet by clicking   HERE

I have fallen in love with easel cards.  I used the large Spellbinders dies for this card.  My flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts (my favorite place to shop for flowers)

Would love for you to check our our DT challenge page and see all the lovely creations by our My Besties World  DT members.  You can visit our challenge blog by clicking HERE

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you will come again.  I truly would appreciate your comments!!  I am going to enter this card in the 3D Deco DT challenge blog HERE

Happy stamping and card making everyone.
God bless,
Pat

November 1, 2014 - LET IT SNOW - Add Snowflakes & Glitter

Welcome back everyone and welcome to our new My Bestie Aussie DT challenge, Let It Snow (using snowflakes)    Well I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone to try something new this time and I hope you all like it.    If you are familiar with My Besties and shop in Sherri's Etsy shop, well then you have probably seen some of the 3D Deco Sheets of My Besties.  I have had some of these for a while but I just kept looking at them thinking how great they were and thinking that is gonna be some work to cut out.  LOL   So I just decided to bite the bullet and try one and guess what????   I love them.  Well now that I have found the secret,  I cut my first one out with very small scissors and it did take some time but I love the way it came out.  You can find the 3D Deco Sheets in Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop by clicking HERE.

Here is the side view.

I loved working with this image and let me give you a little hint.  I cut all the pieces out by using small scissors and they worked great, but when I had to get into smaller places, I pulled out the old trusty cutting blade and it brought back memories of me years ago cutting out many many many cut and pierced lamp shades.  I had gotten really good at using a blade and thought oh my it has been years and years since I have done anything remotely like that, but guess what, it all came back in a flash and I had control of that blade in no time.  To me it was easier and quicker to use a blade, but I guess it is a personal preference.  :-)

The only thing I added directly to the image was to put stickles on the fur parts of her boots and hat.  I have several people say that you can use your markers or pencils to enhance and make areas pop.  I may try that on another image later.

All my supplies were items that I had on hand.  CTMH and Stampin Up Cardstock,  SU glitter paper, Memory box snowflake die, Jolee's snowflake stickers, Sentiment was a freebie and I can't remember where I got it.

Thank you all so much for stopping by and I encourage you to check out our blog and come and join us for this fun challenge. You can visit the other DT's blogs by clicking HERE.

Stay warm and safe my friends.  The cold weather has returned and so many of you are having snow.  Oh my......way too early for me.

Hugs and blessings,
Pat

Happy Monday!!!!  Hope you all had a great week-end and getting ready for the new week.  Well we hope that you will take time to join us in our new My Bestie World DT Challenge.  The theme of the challenge this time is "Bling It Up". Starting today for two weeks, you have the opportunity to enter our BLING IT UP challenge and  possibly win some great prizes.

Now....who doesn't like bling???  Well I love bling.  As I keep telling all my friends, the older I get the "gaudier and glitzier" I get.  Now I know those aren't real words, but hey they work for me.  LOL   So get those images and start coloring.  I want to see all  your lovely creations.

The image I chose for this challenge is called Making Faces Cupcake and you can find her in Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop by clicking HERE

All supplies used were items I had in my stash and I certainly had a lot of "bling".  Even the butterfly had bling.  :-)  I used my distressed inks to color.

Now don't forget to enter our challenge for a chance to win some great prizes.  You can enter by clicking HERE.

Thank you all so much for stopping by again and I would love it you would leave comments.  They are all read and truly appreciated.  Until next month.

October 1, 2014 - Anything goes with a Bestie

Good day my friends.  Today is the day for our new My Besties Aussie DT challenge Anything Goes with a Bestie.  I just love this cute image and I decided to once again pull out my Distressed Ink Mini Pads and color her with them.  It has been a few months since using the distressed inks, and once I got into the coloring again I wondered why I stopped.  Well guess I just like to use a multitude of mediums.  :-)  I truly need to get back to my Copics, so you may be seeing something colored with them really soon.

I chose a beautiful image that is available on Create and Craft TV.

Well once again, I colored my image first and then went looking for the papers.  I was surprised at how quickly they all came together and felt pretty good about them.  :-)

I pulled out my Distressed Inks Mini pads and colored the image using a watercolor technique.

Hope you all like the card and once again invite you to join us in our Aussie DT challenge.  You can find the challenge by clicking HERE

Thank you all for stopping by and I hope your weather is as beautiful as it is here in South Carolina, USA.  Our leaves are beginning to turn and oh how I love autumn.

Happy stamping and blessings to all,
Pat

Sept 15, 2014 - International DT My Bestie Challenge - My Bestie with a Pet

Oh my goodness.  Can you believe it is already the middle of September.  Where oh where does the time go.  We have started having a few cooler days here in the south and believe me these days are really welcome here.  It hasn't been cool enough for the leaves to start turning yet but I'm sure that is just around the corner.  I love Autumn.....in fact Autumn and Spring are my two favorite seasons.

From the title of my blog post you can see that our new DT challenge this month is a My Bestie image with a pet.  Well I knew right from the start which one of Sherri Baldy's beautiful images I was gonna use.  I have two parrots...PJ my sweet little Cockatiel and then Jabber, my sweet African Grey.  First let me tell you that Jabber is very appropriately named.  Just ask any of my friends who have been around him.  I have to chuckle when I think of a couple parties (Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chef) that I have had and when the consultants started their presentations, well lets just say that Jabber was trying to out talk/jabber them.  It was so funny, 'cause everytime the consultants tried to speak a little louder....well yep, you got it, Jabber just got louder too.  It was hysterical.  Everyone had a good time, even the consultants.   So My Bestie this tiime can be found on Sherri's Etsy shop HERE.   Sherri has some beautiful images with pets so I'm sure you will find an image that just fits you and your pets.

Now Jabber doesn't really look like this, but in his honor I colored the tail red.   When I look at this, it just reminds me of holding my sweet boy.  :-)

I used my Faber Castel Polychromo pencils to color with.  I love the soft look you can get with them.  All of my papers came from my stash and thank goodness I had colors to match my image.  I am getting a little better better about picking my papers first and then coloring my images, but I colored this one months ago when I saw what our challenge would be and didn't have a clue what papers I was going to use.  Believe me, it really works better to choose your papers first.  I try to keep telling myself that.  LOL

My flowers are from Wild Orchard Crafts.  They are my first "go to" flowers all the time.  The round stamp is from Whimsey.

Be sure and join the My Besties International DT challenge.  We would love to see your beautiful creations and see which "pet" you chose.  You can enter our challenge by clicking HERE

Wanted to include a photo of my boy so you can see Jabber for real.  :-)

Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting my blog.  Please come back again and I would appreciate your comments.

Have a wonderful September and I will be back next month with a brand new challenge.

Happy Stamping and Crafting
Many Hugs and Blessings,
Pat

September 1, 2014 - New Aussie DT Challenge

Good Monday morning everyone and welcome to my blog and welcome to September.  Dang we are headed into Autumn very very soon.  I can't believe how quickly this year is passing by.  Hope you all are enjoying beautiful weather where you are.  It has been very sunny and pretty here.  Kinda hot still, but cooler weather is just around the corner for sure.

Welcome to our new Aussie DT Challenge  - Anything Goes - Using a Bestie and Flowers.  Well that covers two of my most favorite things when I make a card.  Yeppers I love My-Besties and I love my flowers.  So that was a win-win situation for me.  :-)

My card for this challenge once again served a dual purpose.  One for my design team card and then as a birthday card for a friend of mine who absolutely loves everything Lion.  So I knew immediately that I would use this image for Kaye and for the DT.  She is just adorable and you can find her in Sherri Baldy's Etsy Shop by clicking HERE

Another thing I loved doing with this card is using another of my favorite color combos which is using pinks and browns/tans.  I love her....well what can I say, I love all of Sherri's My Besties images.  :-)

Supplies used:
MY Bestie Img 182 Click HERE
Cardstock - Close to My Heart
Flowers - Wild Orchid
Dies - Memory Box and Spellbinders
Embossing folders - Provo Craft
Decorative Paper - from my stash.
Derwent InkTense Pencils

Sure hope you like my cutie pie above and that you will join us for this challenge.  I think everyone loves flowers and of course My Besties, so put your thinking caps on and create a beautiful card for the challenge.  When you do, you can enter the Aussie DT Challenge by clicking HERE

August 18, 2014 - My-Besties International DT Challenge - Your Favorite Colors

Good  Monday morning my friends. Today is the start of a new challenge for our My Besties International Design Team.  We were able to use some of our favorite color combos and I have so many it was really really hard to decide which combos I wanted to use.  I made this card for a dual purpose, I have a friend who's birthday was coming up and also needed a card for my DT, so I decided to combine for the one card.  I know it is only August and I know that this is a strange design to use for a birthday card, but my friend loves Halloween and this just spoke her name to me and purples and greens are one of her's and  my favorite color combos so I said why not!!!!.

So for this card I used one of the cutest images from Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop called Trixie Boo and you can find her HERE.

Now don'tcha know that you would love to have a cute little Trixie Boo coming to your home Trick or Treating?  :-)  Who could resist loading her up with all those candy treats you have waiting.

Supplies Used:
Papers - Close to My Heart
Spellbinders Dies
Cherry Lynn Dies
LaLa Land Craft Dies
Faber Caster Polychromo Pencils
Black Cat - Halloween Confetti Mixture

Hope you like this sweetie and sure hope that you will join us in our challenge.  Please be sure to check out the creations of all our DT members by going to the challenge blog by clicking HERE.

Thank you once again for stopping by and checking out my latest creation for our challenges.  I would so appreciate any comments you would like to leave.  They are all very much appreciated.

So that's all this time, hope you drop in again sometime soon.

Happy Stamping and Blessings,
Pat

July 21, 2014 - My Besties International DT Challenge - Mermaids

Happy Happy Monday everyone and welcome back to my blog where this week our My Besties International DT challenge is using mermaids.  I have always loved mermaids and it brings back memories of Walt Disney cartoons/movies with mermaids.  It also brings back very old memories of the movie with Darrell Hannah when she played a mermaid.  Man that was a long time ago and I am dating myself for sure.  I am surprised that I can remember the name of the actress but can't remember the name of the movie.  Guess I'm having one of those senior moments.  :-)

Back to our challenge.  I have chosen one of Sherri Baldy's beautiful mermaids that I got from her Etsy Store.  She is IMG 696 and you can purchase her HERE

I fell in love with this mermaid the minute I saw it.  Hope you like my card below.

The theme of using mermaids just called out to me to use aqua's and greens, so you can see that is what I did.  I also wanted to use something that truly came from the sea, so I found some small seashells and used those instead of using flowers that I usually put on my cards.  Somehow, flowers just didn't seem to fit the challenge.  LOL

Supplies Used
Memory Box Dies
Derwent InkTense Pencils
Digital Sentiment - Whimsey
Waves and bubbles - JoLees
Papers and aqual rinestones - from  my stash
Corner Punch - Stampin Up

Thank you all once again for visiting my blog and I would encourage you to join us in our challenge of Mermaids.  Sherri has many different ones and I would love to see your beautiful creations using them.  If you would like to join our Bestie International DT challenge you can by clicking HERE

Happy Stamping,
Pat

July 1, 2014 - Monochromatic Challenge Using Light Greens - My Bestie Aussie DT

Oh my gosh, can you believe it is already July.   Where has the time gone??  Well it certainly has flown by that's for sure.

Well we have a great new challenge on the My-Bestie Aussie DT Blog.  This time it was making a monochromatic card using Light Greens.  I really like monochromatic cards, but sometimes finding just the right colors to use together is certainly a challenge.  :-)  I have chosen to use a sweet image from Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop named Cynthia and you can find her HERE .

I used various papers from my paper stash, which I am sure we all have a lot of "stash" like that.  :-)  The dies are from Memory Box and are new.  I loved them and somehow they just found their way in my shopping card at the scrapbook store the other day. LOL .  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, Lace around the bottom is from Wal-Mart (Can you believe that).  I used Derwent InkTense Pencils to color her and used stickles on her wings along with pearls from Stampin Up.  Found a couple of "hat" pins and added that for just a little extra.

Had fun creating this card and hope that you will join us in our challenge this month and also go and take a look at all the lovely cards our talented design team members have created.  If you want to join or just take a look at the other cards, click HERE

Thank you for once again stopping by to visit my blog. Hope you like my card and I would really appreciate any comments you might want to make.  I truly appreciate each and every one of them.

Happy Stamping and Many Hugs,
Pat

June 27, 2014 - Special My Bestie Aussie DT Blog Hop - Butterflies and Bees in the Spring!!!!

Hey my friends, just dropping by to let you know we have a new and exciting  blog hop starting today and we are "showcasing" some new digis from Sherri Baldy.  The title of our blog hop is Butterflies and Bees in the Spring.  I was given a precious image of a bee and here is my take on the challenge.

Don'tcha just love this sweet image?  I know I do.  If you want her you can find her at Sherri's etsy shop by clicking HERE.  I don't know why, but when I saw the image I knew she just screamed for yellow and aqua papers.  So I looked through my stash and found exactly what I wanted.  I also found in my stash the perfect flowers that were all connected in a row.  How great was that.  :-)

We would love for you to come join us in this blog hop.  Please visit all the DT members blogs and make a comment.  Also, these precious images do not have names yet and you can have a chance to name them and if your name is chosen, guess what????   You win the digi!!!!!  How cool is that.  So please leave a suggested name in the comments on our blogs.  Good luck and I hope your name is chosen.  :-)

June 23, 2014 - Besties World DT Challenge - Summer Days

Good Monday morning my friends.  Hope you all had a wonderful week-end and are looking forward to a great new week.  :-)

Welcome to our new challenge of "Summer Days"......and yep summer has definitely arrived both on the calendar and in the "heat" we are currently having here in South Carolina.  It has been over 90 and near the mid 90 degree weather for about two weeks now, and I am not a fan of very hot weather. My favorite seasons are Spring and Fall.  LOL

When I was deciding which one of Sherri Baldy's adorable images to color for this challenge, I found the absolutely perfect one which to me really says "summer".  Yep sunflowers and all.  I love this image and hope you like her as well as I do.  :-)  The image I used can be found in Sherri's Etsy shop and you can get her by clicking HERE

I did something a little different this time when I started this challenge.  What you say....well I chose my papers first.  LOL  I wish I would get into the habit of doing that for each challenge as it certainly makes life easier than doing it the opposite of coloring first and then looking for the papers.  Not good and it is certainly a time waster by doing it that way.    I had this 6x6 pad of paper for a while and absolutely knew it was what I was going to use.  The whole pad just screams "summer" to me.  :-)  Even down to the tree branches, birds and birdhouses.

I love easel cards and since there were so many of the design papers I wanted to use, I decided this card had to be an easel.  I think it worked out exactly like I wanted and I loved using the birdhouse paper as showing when the card is standing open.  :-)

Supplies used:
Grand Spellbinders Dies
Close to My Heart Cardstock
Wild Orchid Crafts (Flowers)
Derwent InkTense Pencils
Memory Box Dies
Stickles

So hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge and that it may inspire you to join us for the challenge.  You can enter your lovely creations by clicking HERE and uploading your cards.

June 15, 2014 - Aussie DT Challenge Using Dry Embossing and Dies

Welcome back my friends.  Hope you are enjoying your day and I hope stopping by here brings a little more enjoyment to your day.  :-)

We have a great challenge going on right now and I'm sure one that you all will want to join. You can join the challenge by clicking HERE.   Who doesn't love dry embossing and dies??  Well I don't know about you all, but I know I use dies on ALL my cards and tend to emboss quite a bit too.  So bring out those trusty embossing folders and dies and get to town.  LOL    For this challenge I used a Sherri Baldy image that you can find HERE.  I love this sweet gal and love her name.  She is called Bashful Bettie.

So here is the card I designed with using Ms. Bashful Bettie and sure hope that you like it.

I had a problem trying to get a good picture with this card because the colors are very pastel.  So I put a shout out and a couple of very talented gals sent me a few link to DIY your own lightbox, so I went to the craft store and yeppers I'm gonna make me one so hopefully my photos will start coming out much better and more true to the colors.  :-)

Here is a little collage of the card that our DT leader made for me, so thought I would share it too.You get a little better close up of some of the dies and the embossing I used.

I'm not sure I could get much more on this card.  LOL  I kinda went wild with the die cutting.  :-).  Supplies used on this card are:
Dies:  Spellbinders, Memory Box,
Round 1 1/2" punch and 1 1/4" punch
Small butterfly punch
Flowers:  Wild Orchid Crafts
Provo Crafts:  Embossing Dies
Paper and Ribbon came form my Stash

I colored the image using the Polychromo pencils by Faber Castell.  Still loving them but I am now trying out my Derwent InkTense pencils and beginning to get very comfortable with those too.

It may be hard to see, but I embossed the yellow designer and aqua designer papers.

So that is my card for the challenge this month.  Please take a few minutes and go see the other DT members designs.  They are beautiful.  You can go to the challenge blog by clicking HERE.

Thanks once again for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit my blog.  I truly appreciate you stopping by and would love if you would take a little time to leave a comment.

Have a wonderful week and Happy Stamping Y'all.

Hugs,
Pat

June 1, 2014 - Aussie My Bestie DT Challenge

Good Sunday evening my friends.  Well it's that time again.   Yeppers another great challenge for our Aussie My Bestie DT Challenge.  This challenge required some stitching or some faux stitching.  So I went to my craft area in my basement and "dusted" off the old sewing machine to accomplish.  Had to kind chuckle as I was doing this, because it has been years and years since I have sat down to sew anything, must less sew on a card.  I was very surprised that I even remembered to thread the sewing machine or even how to fill a bobbin. LOL  Also if you had told me years ago that I would ever us my Bernina to sew on paper, I would have said NOOOOOO way.  But it is just sitting there getting no use, and my main focus in my crafty life now is creating cards, so guess I can use it if I want to.  :-)

So here is my card for the challenge and I hope you all like it.  :-)

The Bestie image I used for my card is Bestie IMG 753 and can be found in Sherri Baldy's Etsy Shop.  You can purchase by clicking HERE.  As you can the stitching I used was a zig zag and straight stitching.  I had forgotten how hard it is to line it up when you turn a corner with the zig zag stitch.  But all in all I was pleased, especially since I had not touched my sewing machine in years.  :-)

Here is a close up of the image.

I used papers from the stash I had on hand.  Cardstock was Bazzill and Close to My Heart.  I am still on a role with using my Faber Castell Polychromo pencils.  As I have said in several posts, I am so enjoying using them, that I will probably stick to those for a while.  Used flowers from Wild Orchid crafts.  A corner die from Memory Box.  And the corner heart die I believe is from Di-lusionals.  Also used some stickles on the butterflies, her head band, bow and her pantaloons.

Hope you will take time to have a look at the cards the other Design Team members have created. You can find them by clicking HERE

Thank you for stopping by my little corner of the world.  Have a wonderful new week and my blessings upon blessing come your way.

Happy Stamping and blessings,
Pat

May 26, 2014 - Bestie World DT Color Challenge

Hello again my friends.  Welcome from warm sunny Florida.  Yep we are on a little side trip right now and are certainly enjoying this beautiful weather.  We love being around all these palm trees.  Somehow they are soothing.  :-)

Well once again It's time for the Bestie World DT challenge.  This time it is a color challenge and red seemed to be the main focus of the photo we were to get our inspiration from, so red it is.  LOL   Hope you all like my take on the challenge.

I just love this image as I do all of Sherri Baldy's Besties.  :-)  She is Image 208 and you can find her in Sherri's Etsy Shop HERE

Well for the life of me I can't remember the manufacturer of the papers I used this time.  But I will tell you that I purchased them from Scrapbook Creations in Spartanburg, SC.  A couple of papers were also some snipets in my stash.  :-)

I colored her with my Faber Castell Polychromo pencils.  I tend to use those lately as I am so enjoying coloring with them.  If you have never used them......they are so easy to use.  I only use a dry blending stump to blend with.

Supplies:
Faber Castell Polychromos
Lace from my stash

May 19, 2014 - Anything but A Square Card

Happy Monday everyone.  Well we have had an absolutely beautiful week of sunny and warm weather and I sure hope it is like that wherever you are located.

Today is the day for our new Aussie DT challenge and as you can see from the title above, it is Anything But A Square Card.  So once again the ole thinking cap went on and I decided to pull out my large Spellbinder dies and use them for an easel card.  I am ashamed to say these dies have been under my cutting table for several years (ever since I purchased a Grand Calibur) and I had not used them yet.  So this was a good excuse to pull them out.  :-)  But guess what......I used the 3 smallest die in the set and
my trusty electric Big Shot that was already on my cutting table cut them beautifully.  LOL

For this challenge, I chose Sherri Baldy's image called Viola Violet.  I love this image.....well truth be known.....I love all of Sherri Baldy's images.  :-)  If you like her as much as I do and wish to purchase her, you can find her by clicking HERE

Here is my card when it is closed.

Now tell me, don't you just love this cute imge???

Here is the card when it is opened.

When I first saw this image, I immediately knew I wanted to use  Red and Blue for the card.  So I went to my trusty paper stash and came up with exactly what I wanted.  That rarely happens.  Even with all the paper I have on hand, and believe me I have way too much, I seem to always be going to the craft store and picking up more to add to my stash.  LOL

I have to admit something here......I am NOT a baseball fan, however when I saw this image I had to have it.  She has such a "sassy" look about her with her stance and I thought, yeppers she is my kinda gal.  :-)  I really should have made this card for my BFF Suzanne J. Dean 'cause she is one of the biggest baseball fans I know and as she pointed out to me today, I chose the Nat's colors and I shouldn't  tell my hubby, because  he is a big die hard Braves fan.  LOL

Not being a "sports" fan, I have no sentiments that were appropriate for this, so I sat down at the computer and thought of some sayings that would be cute with this image.  So I typed them all up in Word and then went searching on the internet and found some clip art that I inserted below the saying.  I thought it worked out good.  The one I finally used is not the one I originally thought I would use, but it is so appropriate, because I feel this way about my sweet hubby of 49 years.  He IS my home run!!!!!!

Supplies Used:
Spellbinders Oval and Scalloped Grand Dies
Memory Box flourish Die
La La Land Crafts banner Die
Faber Castell PolyChromos Pencils
Close to My Heart Card Stock and Designer Papers

Ohhhh and did you notice, for once in my life, I did NOT use flowers.  Well flowers just didn't seem like they would work here.  LOL

I sure hope you like my card and I invite you to enter our challenge.  Whether you enter or not, please go and take a look at all the other creations our Aussie Design Team has done.  You can find our challenge blog by clicking HERE

May 4, 2014 - Aussie DT Challenge Using Flowers and Two Laces

Happy Sunday everyone.  Hope you had a great week-end.  I have been fighting catching a germ the last few days and I sure hope I have kicked it early.  :-)  Got too many wonderful things coming up this week and the next couple to be sick.

So our Aussie Challenge this time is for us to use flowers and two types of laces.  Since I love using flowers and I love lace, it wasn't too hard to visualize my card.  :-)

The image I used from Sherri Baldy's Etsy shop is called Viola Violet and with such a sweet name you can already tell that she should have lace and flowers on her card for sure.  :-)  You can purchase this image by clicking HERE

Here is my card for the challenge.

I decided to color her entire dress using blues and when I finished the blues, I was having a very hard time deciding what other color I wanted to use.  I was texting at the same time I was coloring  to one of my BFF's and she suggested that I use a creamy yellow and that is what I did.  I loved the color combination and luckily I still had some of the creamy flowers left in my stash.  I have been using flowers like crazy lately and I have to replenish my stock.  :-)  Well it sounds like a great excuse to me to order more.  LOL

The papers I used were ones that I had on hand. The lace at the bottom was found at WalMart believe it or not, but the lace on the corner was purchased from Betty's in Greensboro, NC.  I added the pearls to the lace after I placed on the card.  Flowers are from Wild Orchard.  Love me some Wild Orchard flowers.  :-)  The lace doily die is from Cheery Lynn Dies.  Ticket sentiment is out of a set of stamps from Whimsey.    A dab or two of Stickles was used on the flower in her headband.

I had lots of fun creating this card and invite you all to come and join us in our Aussie challenge.  Please come and take a look at all the other DT Members cards by clicking HERE

April 28, 2014 Besties Design Team Challenge - Anything But A Card

Hi my friends.  I hope you all had a lovely week-end.  I know I did, in fact I had a blast.  Myself and three other gal pals went to a crafting Expo and took some classes and stayed over and we certainly had a great time together.  We stayed up way to late talking and laughing that's for sure.

Well our challenge this time is "Anything But A Card".  Hmmmmm that definitely had me thinking what on earth am I gonna do for this challenge.  Thankfully, I guess (cause I spent way too much money LOL), I went to AC Moore for a couple of things and walked by a bin and saw something, and it hit me, yeppers I am going to use this for my challenge.  So I purchased it and then put my thinking cap on and here is what I came up with.  I hope you all like it.

As you can see, I chose a chalk board and decided to go with a "girlie" look.  :-)  I had Sherri Baldy in mine when I created this, as she loves pink and lace and of course she is the designer of these precious images, and she is our "Bestie"  The image I used was I Say A Little Prayer and you can find her in Sherri's Etsy Shop HERE.

Here is a close up of the image.

I used my current favorite medium to color with.  I have been using my Faber Castell Polychromos and I am in love with them.  Love the way they blend so easily and with 120 colors a gal can't go wrong.  :-)  I also used my brand new dies from Joy Crafts.  From the very first day I saw this die, I knew it had to come home and live with me.  So I went on a search and found a place in the US that I could order.  The die is really a heart border, but I cut them apart and used randomly.  My flowers are mostly Wild Orchid.  Lace and ribbon flowers were from my stash.

So I hope you like my interpretation of the challenge and that you will decide to join us.  So grab your favorite Bestie image and come join us on our Besties Challenge Blog HERE

Thank you for stopping by and I sure hope you come again.
Happy Stamping and God Bless,
Pat

April 20, 2014 - Aussie DT Challenge Using Folds

Hello my friends.  Today our Aussie DT challenge is using folds.

So I got the old thinking cap on and wanted to do something a little different that some of the folds I've been using, so I am revisiting a technique using folds that I'm sure we all have used many times in our card making.  Its been a long time since I have done a Joy Fold card, so that is what I decided to do. .   I also wanted a larger card than you usually see with a Joy Fold, so I just started guestimating (ok I know that is not a real word LOL) and I was pleased with the final size.  During my thinking and looking at different tutorials, I stumbled upon one that I wish I had seen prior to making this card, 'cause I certainly did the base of it the hard way.  LOL  So the easy way is....figure the finished size card you want  and double the length.  Then fold the CS in half and then cut one of the folds in half.  Saves you trying to figure out where to score and fold.

I don't know why, but when I chose the image I wanted to color, I immediately though of blues and aquas.  Wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but overall I think I am pleased.  :-)

The flower at the bottom left is a dual reason for being there.  One because I love flowers and usually have them on all my cards, but the other reason....it is keeping the blue fold that the image is mounted on closed.  You will see what I mean in my next picture which shows the entire card opened.  :-)    I loved this image the first time I saw her, my first thought was how sweet and love that little bunny she is holding, so a little bunny love.:-)
If you would like to add this sweet image to your collection you can find her at Sherri Baldy's Etsy  HERE

A really good friend of mine, Suzanne J. Dean, is a great enabler and  a few months ago and was telling me all about these really neat pencils by Faber Castell called Polychromos.  Well yeppers I had to have them and this image was the first image I colored with them.  And can I tell you all that I am in love with them.  I love they way they color and the ease of coloring too.  I used a hotpress watercolor paper from Amazon.  It was a little pricey, but love the way it worked with the pencils.  I also used a blending stump to soften the colors together.  I will list the colors used when I list the supplies below. Oh and by the way, I am also a very good enabler to all my friends. too.  LOL

Here is the inside of my card:

I wanted to use the sentiment, Some Bunny Loves You and I didn't have a stamp or a digi, so I typed it in Word and printed on some cardstock and used a Spellbinders die to cut it out.

Supplies Used:
Polychromos:
Sky Blue
Hello Blue
Dark Phthalo
Grey II
Light Magento
Light Flesh
Medium Flesh
Cinnamon
Buster
Naples Yellow

Flowers:  Wild Orchid and Prima
Aqua Emblishments - Some in my stash

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog.  Are you ready for something exciting???/  Well we are celebrating our one year anniversary on the My Besties Aussie Challenge Blog and we are inviting you to celebrate with us.  We are having a Blog Hop with some awesome "candy" for the winners who go "blog hopping" with us.  Now come on, you know you like candy and you know you want to win, so come on and visit all the blogs and you may get some awesome prizes.

Supplies Used:
